Brașov in winter: a city break and a day in Poiana Brașov

In winter, Brașov is ideal for a 2–3 day city break: the old town is easy to see on foot, and Poiana Brașov, about 12 km away, makes a day of skiing or a walk in the snow. If you stay in the old town, you don't need a car in the city.

In the city, on foot

• Rope Street (Strada Sforii) and Republicii Street, with cafés and restaurants where you can warm up.
• Tâmpa mountain: the cable car has set hours and maintenance periods, so check before you go up.

A day in Poiana Brașov

Poiana Brașov is the mountain resort next to the city, about 12 km away. In winter you can ski, snowboard or go for walks. On busy days, set off in the morning. Slope information and opening hours change from season to season, so check the official ski area websites.
